  • My mods are: Upgraded the orignal battery pack to a 200-ah LiPoFe4 with Bluetooth monitoring through a Victron Smart Shunt. Upgraded the solar controller to handle an additional 120-watt solar panel. Added a 12 VDC socket in the toolbox for powering a diesel heater. To keep my Dometic CFX refrigerator powered in the 4Runner, I built a solar generator with the original 100-ah LiPoFe4 battery that came with the Hiker. I added a 40 amp DC to DC charger, the original solar controller, and Bluetooth monitoring through a Victron Smart Shunt. With a 120-watt solar panel, I can keep the refrigerator running indefinitely. All the modifications were done before my trip to Utah and were proven to be able to maintain enough power to stay for an indefinite time only on solar and battery power even while operating my Amateur Radio station and activating Parks on the Air (POTA). I will be bringing my Amateur Radio Station and setting it up to activate Beech Fork State Park US-1800 for Parks on the Air (POTA).
